2014 Ukrainian Revolution (February 2014)
Lviv, Kiev et Zaporizhie
In February 2014, tensions between Ukrainians seeking greater ties with the European Union and those advocating greater cooperation with Russia, sparked protests and violent clashes involving protesters and riot police in the capital city, Kiev. According to official sources, over a hundred people died in the clashes and it is reported that over a thousand people were injured.
Events culminated in the ousting of pro-Russian President Victor Yanukovych, currently in exile in Russia. Shortly after, the Ukrainian constitution was restored to its 2004 form, how it was before President Yanukovych took office in 2010.
The following photographs were taken in February 2014 during the Ukrainian Revolution in Lviv, a picturesque city situated near the border with Poland, in Zaporizhie, an industrial city neighbouring Russia and in Kiev where the most violent confrontations took place.
